Changes in traffic will begin near the Battle Creek Police Department headquarters in the next couple weeks.

The City announced Thursday that following Tuesday’s City Commission approval of construction contracts, work on the new Police Headquarters will begin in two weeks. The $15.5 million project will provide much-needed space for police staff and community spaces.

The new building will be placed on the current parking lot along John Patterson Way and will take 18 months to build.

With the construction, John Patterson from Division to East Michigan will be closed to thru traffic, with signs posted for parking for City Hall and the Calhoun County Justice Center.
