For over half a century, there's really only been one Ford Mustang. There have been several trim levels and special editions, of course, but just the one iconic pony car this entire time.

Very soon, though, Ford is going to be changing that.

On Nov. 17, Ford held a special event featuring stars such as Idris Elba and Ken Block to introduce their new, all-electric Mustang: the Mustang Mach-E. This vehicle is an SUV, but it is 100% Mustang, as the event showed.

Here at Nico's New Rides we sat down with Vince Pavone from Lakeview Ford Lincoln in Battle Creek to discuss the Mach-E. We went over the event, and Vince highlighted how this vehicle is a leap forward for electric vehicles not just for Ford but the industry. He said that even though Ford has had electric vehicles before, they were always afterthoughts or legal obligations. Now, the Mach-E shows that Ford is taking the future of electric cars seriously, even giving their beloved Mustang name to it.

And make no mistake, the Mustang Mach-E appears to live up to the name; in it's GT configuration, it boasts a 0-60 time in the mid 3 seconds, and the equivalent of 459 horsepower. And depending on the model you choose, you could go between 230 and 300 miles on a single charge. There's also a feature that helps you locate charging stations on your route.

Speaking of technology, the Mustang Mach-E is full of it; it features a giant, tablet-like screen as the center console, a smaller screen behind the steering wheel, and a new SYNC system that's supposed to adapt to the driver as the vehicle gets to know you.

The Mach-E is an impressive showing from Ford, and definitely worth checking out!

And, as a bonus, Lakeview Ford sales manager Phil Overley spent a few minutes discussing the Ford Pass app. It can even help you find your car in a parking lot!
