James McCann and Jordan Zimmermann were the only highlights Monday in the Detroit Tigers opener with the Pittsburgh Pirates. It all culminated to a 3-0 defeat for the Motown Cats in the first of a four-game home-and-home series with the Bucs.

McCann would provide the only hit of the night for the Tigers, as Pittsburgh pitchers would only see 29 Detroit plate appearances. He would also steal his first stolen base of the season.

Zimmermann (7-9) had another solid start, but run support was not existent again. He would toss seven innings, allowing all three runs on five hits.

The Tigers will now look to end a three-game skid Tuesday with the second game of the series and the last game in Pittsburgh this season. Matthew Boyd (5-5, 5.35 ERA) has the start for the Tigers, with Pittsburgh sending out Chad Kuhl (4-7, 4.53 ERA). Listen to all the action at 6:40pm on 95.3 WBCK!
