Police say an argument in the parking lot of a convenience store in Battle Creek yesterday led to gunfire.

It happened at around 5:45 in the afternoon in the area of East Emmett and McKinley.

Police were initially called when a woman said she was attacked in the parking lot of the store; the victim also called her father who went to the suspect’s home to talk to him.

Police say that when confronted, the suspect pulled out a rifle and began shooting at the victim’s father.

One person was hit in the leg with shrapnel.

Officers caught the suspect at his home on East Emmett, and they say they also found an illegal marijuana grow operation.
