Over 250,000 Still Without Power In Michigan From Spring Snow Storm
Crews are working to restore power to hundreds of thousands of Michigan customers who lost power during a weekend storm. DTE Energy says it expects 90 percent of its 370,000 affected customers to have service by the end of Tuesday. Consumers Energy restored power to most of its more than 118,000 affected customers.
In the Detroit suburb of Warren, a fallen power line sparked a fire that destroyed 10 vehicles at a used car dealership.
Locally, M-DOT reported several slide-offs and fender benders including one at around noon on westbound I-94 that left the highway blocked for several hours near exit 85 at 35th Street in Kalamazoo County. WWMT reports that a tree weighed down by ice split in two Sunday morning. Half of it fell over a power line on M-43 near the Gull Lake area. That incident left nearly 1,000 customers without power for several hours.
