At about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, a Plainwell motorcyclist and an SUV collided at the intersection of North Park and Norwary in Kalamazoo.

The 34-year-old motorcyclist, Robert Vern Pueblo of Plainwell, died at the scene. The driver of the SUV fled the scene on foot.

Kalamazoo Public Safety officers identified and interviewed the driver of the SUV, as well as the front seat passenger of the vehicle, who also fled.

The police stated in a press release that it will request charges of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death, against the driver of the SUV. This charge is a five-year felony.

This crash remains under investigation. There is a six to eight week wait for toxicology and autopsy results.
