Even though the Detroit Red Wings didn't make the postseason (for the first time in 25 years), there are several local products that you can follow during the hockey postseason.

To no surprise, the Western Michigan Broncos success on the ice in recent years has given several former players the opportunity to play professional hockey. One surprise is that the lone players in the National Hockey League from Western - former defensive linemates Danny Dekeyser and Luke Witkowski, along with defensemen Matt Tennyson - are not in the postseason this year.

On the other hand, there are 14 Broncos playing in the postseason in the minor leagues, even a few with former Kalamazoo Wings ties. There is also one that is playing for the K-Wings from Southwest Michigan.

Here's this year's list of Broncos on the ice!

American Hockey League (AHL)
Colton Hargrove - Providence Bruins

Chris Dienes - Adirondack Thunder
Riley Gill - Allen Americans (former K-Wings goalie)
Lukas Hafner - Colorado Eagles
Kyle Bushee - Kalamazoo Wings (and Otsego native)
Josh Pitt - Kalamazoo Wings
Justin Kovacs - Quad City Mallards
Nolan LaPorte - Quad City Mallards
Kyle Novak - Quad City Mallards
Shane Berschbach - Toledo Walleye (former K-Wing)
Dane Walters - Toledo Walleye
Mike Leone - Toledo Walleye
Mike McKee - Toledo Walleye
Garrett Haar - Utah Grizzlies

Ironically, the K-Wings and Toledo Walleye are squaring off in the first round of the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs. Josh Pitt and Kyle Bushee would lead the K-Wings in a 3-1 victory on March 10th at Wings Event Center (highlights below). There are six Broncos in the playoff series!

Follow the K-Wings through the playoffs through the ECHL or through the team's website!
