Kalamazoo Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect in a shooting that occurred Wednesday.

In a release, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that a 27-year-old man was shot in the 600 block of Portage St. around 3:30pm Wednesday, with the victim admitting he was attempting to sell marijuana to a pair of men when they pulled a gun on him. The victim was treated for minor injuries.

A short time after the shooting, police were able to track down an 18-year-old man in connection to the crime, and did arrest him on several drug and weapons charges. A firearm was also recovered.

A second suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jamar Jackson, is currently being sought. Jackson is described as a black male, standing at 5 foot 9 inches and weighing 165 pounds, and police say he is considered armed.
