Battle Creek Police are among those working to remind shoppers to be safe during the onset of the holiday shopping season. Chief Jim Blocker and Officer Mark Tillman tell The Richard Piet Show shoppers should be mindful of potential situations where they can be vulnerable to crime while shopping in traditional brick-and-mortar establishments.

As well, they remind online shoppers about the steps they should take to help avoid identity theft and other crimes while making Internet purchases.

"Vulnerability assessment is a smart way to enter into Black Friday," Blocker said, adding that the added number of shoppers this holiday weekend will be met with an equal number of people who which to take advantage of those shoppers.
