More and more we hear stories of Americans crossing borders in to countries with cheaper prescriptions, and it's no wonder. When American prices are ten to twenty times that of foreign counterparts, it can be worth the drive and worth the risk. Michigan aims to propose a new bill to reduce the cost of prescription drugs. Introduced by senator Ruth Johnson, the bill would see the creation of a Canadian drug importation program. According to an article from WXYZ, annual prescription drug treatment costs have risen 57.8% between 2012 and 2017. That's a LOT of inflation over a five year period. And if you have to be on more than one prescription, those monthly costs can add up quickly, giving you a drastically different quality of life.

A rally was recently held in Detroit regarding this bill, and putt a human face on the very real struggle Michiganders are having affording their prescriptions. Hopefully we'll see a a healthy decision reached.
