A retired Sergeant who spent nearly thirty years with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s office has passed away. The sheriff’s office says on their Facebook page that Albert “Al” Lehmkuhl died April 1st following a short illness. He was 66.

Al was born in 1951 in Marshall and attended school there graduating in 1970.  He attended Michigan State University and earned a degree in Criminal Justice before starting his career interning in Webberville as a police officer. Al’s service with the Calhoun County Sheriff Department began in 1973 and he was hired as a full time Deputy in 1975. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1992 and retired from the department in 2001.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, April 7th, at 11:00am at the Marshall Chapel with Police Honors by the Calhoun County Sheriff's office. The family suggests remembering Al Lehmkuhl with a memorial contribution to The Thin Blue Line of Michigan.
