The following are all closings & cancellations that have been submitted to our news team. While we are trying to provide as much information as possible, you may want to call ahead to any organizations or businesses you don't see listed here to make sure they are still open or that planned events are still scheduled to take place. 

Schools:

ALL K-12 Schools in Michigan, public and private, are closed through Monday 4/13/20 after an order from the state. Some schools in the area are extending their closures beyond this date.

Kalamazoo Valley Community College - No face to face classes until at least Monday 4/13/20

Kellogg Community College - All facilities closed through Monday 4/13/20. Online or hybrid format teaching only. All campus events are canceled through Friday 5/15/20 including commencement, theater productions, musical performances and student award ceremonies.

Michigan High School Athletic Association - All winter sporting events suspended as well as practices for spring sports

Western Michigan University - Dorms have closed. The university also says "distance education" is extended through the rest of the Spring semester, and through final exams. April graduation ceremonies are "postponed"

Organizations/Businesses:

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer made an executive order Saturday 3/21/20 that will close down salons, spas, tattoo parlors, and similar businesses through Monday 4/13/20.

All bars and restaurants in Michigan have closed apart from delivery and take-out orders, after an order from Governor Whitmer, which has been extended until Monday 4/13/20

The state ban on public gatherings of 50 people or less continues. Federal authorities are advising to not gather in groups of more than 10 until further notice.

Several Southwest Michigan churches are canceling Sunday services and all church-related events during the week. We recommend you contact your place of worship for information.

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Disability Network in Kalamazoo - Closed

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine - Events canceled

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Kalamazoo Public Library - Closed

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Michigan Career and Technical Institute (MCTI) in Plainwell - All programs canceled

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - City of Portage - Will provide core city services with limited staffing

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Kalamazoo Air Zoo - Closed

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Forks Senior Center in Albion - Closed

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Portage District Library – Closed

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Senior Health Partners in Battle Creek - All programs canceled

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Willard Library in Battle Creek and the Helen Warner Branch - Closed

Until Tuesday, 4/14/20 - Calhoun County and Court offices and facilities - Closed

Until Tuesday 4/14/20 - Curious Kids Museum in St. Joseph County - Closed

Wednesday 4/22/20 to Sunday 5/10/20 - The 2020 Gilmore International Keyboard Festival in Kalamazoo - Canceled. The pre-festival performance for Wednesday 4/15/20 has also been canceled

Until Thursday 4/30/20 - Bell’s Eccentric Cafe Kalamazoo - All public & private events with over 100 people expected in attendance canceled.

Until at least Friday 5/15/20 - Special Olympics Area 16 Kalamazoo - All events canceled 

Until Further Notice - American Legion Post 68 in Paw Paw - Bingo Canceled

Until Further Notice - Battle Creek city offices - temporary closing of all city offices to the public

Until Further Notice - Battle Creek Community Foundation - Closed to the public

Until Further Notice - Battle Creek Transit - Fort Custer/VA 5W bus route will not travel into the VA Medical Center. The VA will instead provide shuttle services from a stop on Armstrong Road.

Until Further Notice - Kool Family Center and the TFL Gym in Battle Creek - Closed - Tenants located within the Kool Center will be following direction from their respective management systems.

Until Further Notice - Michigan Department of Natural Resources - Service Centers around the state along with Field Offices are closed. The DNR is also closing headquarters buildings at all state parks and recreation areas.  Access to state parks, recreation areas, and trail systems are still open.

Permanently Canceled - Battle Creek Rumble Bees - The Federal Prospects Hockey League has suspended operations for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season. All remaining games are canceled

Permanently Canceled - Kalamazoo Wings - The remainder of the 2019-2020 ECHL hockey season has been canceled, including the Green Ice weekend for St. Patrick's Day
