Sick Day, MI Initiative

(AP) Advocates are launching a 2016 ballot drive to require that Michigan workers be able to earn paid sick days.

The petition initiative would ensure one hour of paid leave for every 40 worked. Backers of the measure include the same groups that led an effort to raise Michigan's minimum wage last year.

Supporters need about 253,000 valid voter signatures to put the bill before legislators.
