The Battle Creek Bombers continued their domination of the Green Bay Bullfrogs with a 12-4 home win on Tuesday.   The Bombers finish the season series with Green Bay with seven wins against just one loss.  The Bombers jumped out to an early lead with a four-run first inning featuring a Tom Stoffel (Virginia Tech) three-run homer, his seventh this season.  JD Mundy had a two-run shot in the third.  Alex Howard hit one in the fifth. Mundy finished his night going 3-5 with three driven in, his 13th multi-hit game.   The Bombers start a four-game set with Kalamazoo today at Homer Stryker Field and tonight at home.   They host Kalamazoo on Thursday and game four is in Kalamazoo on Friday.

Jordan Lewis Acquitted

Former Michigan Wolverine and current Dallas Cowboy cornerback Jourdan Lewis has been acquitted of domestic assault. A panel deliberated for slightly more than an hour Tuesday before finding the former Michigan star not guilty. The 21-year-old Lewis was accused of assaulting his former girlfriend at his Ann Arbor apartment in March.

Lion’s Punter Injured

The Detroit Lions’ punter Sam Martin won’t be able to play for a while.  The team put Martin on the active/non-football injury list after he hurt his ankle a couple of weeks ago.

Comeria Park Fingerprint Access

Tiger’s fans can get into Comerica Park faster with a new fingerprint scanning system going into use this week.   Fans will still go through security and display their tickets, but with the biometrics scanning system, officials say those willing to have their fingers scanned for fingerprints will have access to shorter lines.

Symetra Tour

The Symetra Tour returns to Battle Creek Country Club this weekend.  The fourth annual FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship will have a field of 144 players, most of them hoping to play their way on to the LPGA next year.  The winner will earn $15,000.  The top 10 Symetra Tour money earners will get LPGA Tour cards for 2018.   About 30 current LPGA members will play in the tournament.

Soccer

Jamaica will face the United States in a Gold Cup Soccer Championship tonight at 9:30pm EDT from California.

City Baseball

The BC Merchants will host the NABF World Series starting Wednesday August 9th at Bailey Park.  The Merchants beat HBC/Behnke on Monday, and HBC/Behnke will play the weekend after next in a regional tournament in Fort Wayne with a chance to still make it into the series. Other Michigan teams will battle it out in the Saginaw District, so it’s possible that three Michigan teams could make it into the NABF World Series.

Tigers

The Tigers’ lost to Kansas City 3-1.  Michael Fulmer pitched eight innings, giving up three runs on eight hits.  He struck out six and didn’t walk a batter in seeing his record fall to 10-8.  It was the Royals’ seventh win in a row.  The first place Indians won their fifth straight.   The Royals are 1 ½ games out.  The Tigers are 8 ½ back.
