Tigers

The Tigers lost to the Braves 2-1 last night.  Justin Verlander gave up a solo homer to Freddie Freeman, but mowed down the Braves the rest of his 6 innings.   Verlander set down 15 in a row.   Mark Lowe and Bruce Rondon each pitched a scoreless inning.  Rule 5 pick Daniel Stumpf took the loss in the 9th.  Nick Castellanos had two hits including a home run.  Matt Boyd starts against the Braves today in Lakeland.

The Tigers didn’t do anything to improve their bullpen in the off season.   How’s it shaping up?   I’ve written about that, and given my prediction at 95.3 wbck dot com.

The Pistons and Bulls are in a ninth-place tie in the Eastern Conference, a game behind the Miami Heat in the race for that final playoff spot.  The Pistons play the Heat next Tuesday at the Palace, but have two road games first.  Detroit is at Orlando tonight and heads to New York to play the Knicks on Monday.
