The Red Wings started their four-game Canadian road trip with a 3-1 loss Thursday night in Ottawa.  The Senators took a 2-0 lead midway through the second period when Alex Burrows had a power-play goal.  Mark Stone, who also scored a goal, fed Burrows with a perfect pass through the middle to beat Jimmy Howard stick-side.  Howard made 27 saves. Detroit cut it to 2-1 on Mantha's power-play goal with 3:23 left. The Senators sealed it with an empty-net goal. The Wings head to Edmonton on Sunday and have stops in Vancouver and Calgary next week.

Undefeated Harper Creek will host 9-1 Stevensville-Lakeshore Friday, and we’ll have it for you on 95.3 WBCK.

Climax-Scotts will play Pittsford.  Pittsford beat the Panthers 28-14 in the regular season.

Marshall beat Pennfield, 3-1.

College Volleyball

The KCC Volleyball team started post-season play with a win over Glen Oaks in three on Thursday.   The Bruins play Sinclair Community College today at 4pm in the double elimination match at St. Clair County Community College.

The New York Jets beat Buffalo, 34-21.  The Jets’ defense sacked Buffalo’s quarterback seven times.

The Lions are on the road to play the Packers in Green Bay Monday night.

NFL QB Injuries

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson tore a knee ligament in practice and is done for the season.  Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, still trying to come back from January shoulder surgery, has been placed on injured reserve.

College Football

Eastern Michigan beat Ball State 56-14 Thursday night for its first Mid-American Conference victory of the season.

The MSU Spartan basketball team will host Hillsdale College in an exhibition game tonight.  Grand Valley plays at Michigan.

Tigers Moves

The Detroit Tigers are adding Chris Bosio as their pitching coach under new manager Ron Gardenhire.  Bosio was fired by the Cubs two weeks ago.  The Tigers are keeping Lloyd McClendon as hitting coach and adding Phil Clark as an assistant hitting coach.   Dave Clark is staying on as third base coach and former Tiger Ramon Santiago becomes the first base coach.  Rick Anderson will be the team's bullpen coach, Steve Liddle the bench coach and Joe Vavra a quality control coach.

Seattle claimed utility man Andrew Romine off waivers from Detroit. Romine appeared in 124 games last season for the Tigers. Most of his time was spent in the infield.
