 Tigers’Collins Sent Down

The Tigers appear to have given up on outfielder Tyler Collins.  The left-handed hitting outfielder was in a bad slump, and struck out six times against the White Sox over the weekend.   He was hitting .200.   A base running mistake stood out in a game last week drew the ire of Miguel Cabrera.  Any team can claim Tyler Collins on waivers in the next 10 days.

 Tigers

The Tigers beat Kansas City 10-7 on Monday night.  A six-run fifth staked starter Daniel Norris to a 6-3 lead.  J.D. Martinez hit a three run homer, his 8th of the season.  But relievers Shane Green, Blaine Hardy and Francisco Rodriguez failed to hold the lead.  “K-Rod” gave up a two run homer to Eric Hosmer to give the Royals a 7-6 lead.   Detroit scored four in the 8th off former Tiger Joakim Soria.

Alex and Justin Wilson shut down the Royals in the final two innings to preserve the 10-7 win. Justin Verlander starts against the Royals on Tuesday night.  Broadcast time is 7:45 on 95.3 WBCK.
