All-America Team

WMU wide receiver Corey Davis has made The Associated Press All-America team — the first in program history to earn the title.

Last week, Davis pulled down All-American honors from USA Today, Sports Illustrated, Sporting News and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. He is also the MAC Offensive Player of the Year. He’s expected to be picked in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Alabama and Ohio State each placed six players on three APs All-American teams.

Also named to the first team is Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Lamar Jackson of Louisville. Joining him is fellow Heisman finalist Jabrill Peppers of Michigan.  Michigan’s Jourdan Lewis made the first team and Jake Butt made the second team.

Fleck

P.J. Fleck was named one of three finalists for the Maxwell Football Club's 2016 George Munger Coach of the Year Award on Monday. The other finalists are Colorado's Mike MacIntyre and Alabama's Nick Saban.

Fleck has guided Western Michigan to its first 13-0 regular season in program history and its first Mid-American Conference Championship since 1988. The 15th-ranked Broncos were the highest-ranked 'Group of Five' team in the final College Football Playoff poll, and will face eighth-ranked Wisconsin (10-3) in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Jan. 2 in Arlington, Texas.

The winner of the George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year will be announced on Dec. 29.

Monday Night Football

The New England Patriots lead the AFC at 11-2 after Tom Brady passed for 406 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-23 triumph over Baltimore. Malcolm Mitchell and Martellus Bennett had scoring receptions while the Pats built a 23-3 lead. The Ravens got within 23-20 before Brady hit Chris Hogan for a 79-yard TD with 6:18 remaining, dropping Baltimore one game behind the AFC North-leading Steelers.

Lions

The 9-7 Lions lead the NFC North and play the next two games on the road against the Giants and Cowboys.  Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell says quarterback Matthew Stafford's finger injury should not prevent him from playing this weekend against the New York Giants.  Caldwell said Monday the injury affected Stafford against the Bears, but he should be able to practice.  The middle finger on Stafford's right hand was taped up and covered by a white glove Sunday, when he threw for 223 yards in a 20-17 win over Chicago. Stafford had an interception returned for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Detroit (9-4) leads the NFC North by two games, and the Giants (9-4) would be the conference's top wild card if the season ended now.

Rams Fire Fisher

The Los Angeles Rams will have a new coach for Sunday's game at Seattle.  Jeff Fisher was fired a day after the Rams suffered their eighth loss in nine games, a 42-14 drubbing by Atlanta. The Rams are just 4-9 in their first season since returning to Los Angeles.  Fisher took over the club in 2012, when it was based in St. Louis. He's been replaced on an interim basis by special teams coordinator John Fassel.

Pistons

The Pistons hit the road again to play at Dallas on Wednesday and Washington on Friday.  Detroit is coming off a 20-point loss on Sunday to the 76ers.
