Startup Fest Winners Will Open Burmese Restaurant in Battle Creek

Two entrepreneurs who won the Battle Creek-based Startup Fest plan to open a Burmese restaurant early in 2018.

Amanda Sunthang and Jennifer Cole have a dream to open their restaurant in Battle Creek, and impressed judges at the Startup Fest September 30, 2017 with their passion and drive. The pair walked away with a cash prize to put toward their business.

The winners' concept for a Burmese restaurant in Battle Creek, they say, will fill a void in a community without cuisine, they say, Burmese people already enjoy - and Americans will enjoy.

And their dreams are big. Jennifer and Amanda plan to open the Battle Creek restaurant, and have already taken a leap toward owning the building where the restaurant will be situated. They also have a vision to franchise the business, and credit their Generation E mentor-ship connections with helping them prepare.
