Suspect Arraigned in Early Morning Stabbing

A 49-year-old man was arraigned this afternoon after he allegedly stabbed a woman Tuesday morning.

Battle Creek Police officers responded to the 400 block of Capital Avenue Northeast after a 36-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck and the suspect fled on foot. Authorities spotted the man in the area and arrested.

The woman was taken to Kalamazoo where she is listed in serious but stable condition. Investigators located the knife at the scene and seized it as evidence.

The man, identified as Christopher Dean, was formally charged today with assault with intent to murder and is held on $250,000 bond. A preliminary hearing was set for May 25th.
