Death Of Young Kalamazoo Child Deemed Suspicious

A young child is dead in Kalamazoo, and now police are investigating the death as suspicious.

WWMT says that early Sunday morning, first responders were called to a home in the 3000 block of Mt. Olivet Rd, where a young girl was not breathing. They attempted to resuscitate her, but the efforts were unsuccessful, and the child died at the scene.

Details surrounding the death remain unclear at this time.

On Sunday, the child’s mother, 33-year-old Kelly Ballinger was arrested, as was her fiancé, 34-year-old Matthew Longnecker, and the pair are facing assault charges.
