Let's start with the good news. Amazon is still hiring, hiring a lot. The Detroit News says of the 100,000 workers Amazon is hoping to hire nationally, 3,600 of those jobs are in Michigan.
According to the Detroit News, the City of Detroit announced Tuesday it is selling its portion of the Michigan State Fairgrounds, at Eight Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, to an investor group, which will in turn eventually lead to Amazon investing $400 Million dollars to build a major distribution center that would employ more than a thousand workers.
Amazon has been a lifeline for most of us to get our supplies during this time and that has caused Amazon to hire more people over the last few months.
So far, employees are involved with a workup at the site, getting used to how the product packing and shipping lines use both people and automated machines to get things accomplished.
The Gaines Township fulfillment center, just south of Grand Rapids is scheduled to open later this year. More than 1,000 full-time jobs are being filled now- use this link to get hired.
