Reports of an assault brought Battle Creek Police Officers to the 30 block of Green St. behind the Liberty Convenience Store around 11:37pm Wednesday, where they found a man unresponsive on the ground.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called around 9:34pm Tuesday to the Days Inn in the 27,000 block of Sheridan Township, on reports of a disorderly and intoxicated person.

36-year-old Isaac Miller, was sentenced to between 3 years 7 months and 10 years in prison Monday; police say he and his girlfriend severely abused her son.

The Michigan State Police Marshall Post says that the incident happened around 12:30am, at a residence in the 6000 block of J Dr. S in southwestern Newton Township. The resident heard a "loud noise near his front door", prompting him to grab his shotgun and go outside to search the area.

The Battle Creek Police say on Tuesday that they initially thought 43-year-old Diabulo White had been killed via a gunshot, but they now say it appears he suffered blunt force trauma leading to his death

One of the victims, 36-year-old Jason Brown, tells 95.3 WBCK his side of the story, saying he and his 17-year-old son were stabbed by a man after a confrontation. Detective Graves also characterized other media reports that the stabbing was over a parking spot or a woman as inaccurate, saying he had "no clue" where that story originated.

A Battle Creek man who had been accused of rape and other crimes has now had charges against him dropped. The man had been arrested after a man and woman accused him of sexually assaulting the woman at gunpoint.

A Bedford Township man has now been arrested after a series of crimes allegedly stemming from a failed attempt to pay for sex. Authorities say that the 29-year-old suspect met up with the victims, one male and one female, at the Romantix Adult Store on Michigan Avenue.

Police say Heltzel had been shoplifting from the Meijer store on Beckley Rd. with another man in November 2016; when police attempted to make contact, they instead jumped in a minivan with Heltzel behind the wheel, and sped away.

35-year-old Anthony Whitlock was found incompetent to stand trial, because he was unresponsive during examination; he will now remain in state psychiatric custody until he can be found capable. Reviews of his condition are set to be conducted every 90 days.
