The city of Battle Creek issued an alert Tuesday evening advising a good portion of Calhoun County to boil their water before using.

A Boil Water Advisory has been put in place for residents in Post Edition Tuesday morning.

A temporary road closure has been put in place this afternoon and tonight in Battle Creek after a water main break.

The City of Battle Creek has issued a boil water advisory for some residents after a portion of the city's water system was shut done for improvements.

The City of Battle Creek says Monday that the 30-inch water transmission line is expected to be turned on back to normal by mid-day Tuesday. The main being broken February 19 resulted in the entire Battle Creek water system being put under a boil water advisory.

At this time no contaminants have been identified, but some customers are experiencing discoloration in their water. Water samples have been taken for testing, and once test results have come back negative for anything harmful the advisory will be lifted after 24 hours.

Residents of Battle Creek, Springfield and the four surrounding townships are being advised of a large Boil Water Advisory Tuesday.

Residents affected by this advisory are asked not to use their water for things like drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or food preparation without boiling it for at least a minute. Alternatively, you could just use bottled water.
