The Marshall Police Department says Sunday that they their suspect used two fake $10 bills at a Wendy’s.

If it seems like you have been hearing about fake money in Battle Creek often lately, you have. February has seen a surge in counterfeit bills.

Just before midnight Tuesday a 32-year-old Battle Creek woman approached a police officer, and said she had been given two suspicious $100 bills. She told officers that she went to a gas station with the money, and the clerk told her it was counterfeit.

Authorities say two young boys attempted to make a purchase at the store using counterfeit money.

Earlier this week, a $100 bill was used at the Meijer store located on West Columbia Ave. It was discovered to be fake.
