The City of Battle Creek says Sunday that the unnamed officer was off duty and in his personal vehicle, when he crashed into a utility pole around 4am in the City of Springfield. He wasn’t hurt and was arrested shortly afterwards.

Dr. Lukasz Niec was picked up by ICE at his Kalamazoo area home last week, and has been lodged at the Calhoun County Jail ever since. Allegations of child abuse were raised during a custody dispute with the mother of his daughter.

On Monday, an arrest warrant was issued for 32-year-old Johanna Willis, for two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death, and for driving with a high blood alcohol level, falling under Michigan’s “super drunk” law.

Three people had to be taken to various hospitals Sunday night after a head-on crash in Branch County. The Michigan State Police Marshall Post says that on US-12 near Lott Rd. near Coldwater around 8:30pm Sunday, a vehicle crossed the center line, and collided with an oncoming car.

A driver has now died, a week and a half after their car rolled over in Calhoun County. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says Friday that the accident took place on November 4, on M-60 near 10 ½ Mile Rd. in Burlington Township; deputies found a vehicle that had flipped over several times and landed on its side in a field.

21-year-old Ethan Everett was in Calhoun County Court Monday, and sentenced to between 2 and 15 years in prison. Everett pleaded no contest to driving under the influence causing death.

Police had initially been called to the area of the Fox Ridge Apartments on a report of someone threatening others with a handgun, and when they arrived they saw an individual fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The vehicle initially refused to stop for police, but after around a 20 minute chase the suspect did finally stop.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that they were called to A Dr. N near 14 mile Rd. in Marshall Township around 2:30am Monday, September 11 to find that a sedan and pickup truck had collided head-on. The sedan was on fire, and a 19-year-old passenger from Marshall was trapped inside.

61-year-old Stuart Lewis died as a result of his injuries Thursday afternoon at the hospital in Kalamazoo. Shortly after the accident September 7, the Sheriff’s Office said that Lewis was crossing the Army Ave. near the Brookside Apartments, when a sedan driven by a 24-year-old Battle Creek woman struck him; he was then taken to the hospital with severe head trauma.

A drunk driving suspect was sent to the hospital over the weekend after a car crash in Bedford Township. The Battle Creek Enquirer reports Tuesday that the 28-year-old Battle Creek man was found behind the wheel of a pickup truck that had crashed into a tree in Bedford Township around 11:30pm Sunday; the man said he didn’t remember anything before the crash, and was transferred to the hospital to
