Former Kalamazoo Strong director Rachel Kaiser was sentenced on Monday to 24-months of probation, after she pleaded guilty to using a computer to commit a crime.
34-year-old Rachel Kaiser pleaded guilty Monday to one count of embezzlement of more than $1,000 but less than $20,000, and one count of using a computer to commit a crime. She was accused of stealing more than $4,000 from the organization for personal purchases.
Last week, Kalamazoo County authorities obtained a warrant for 34-year-old Rachel Kaiser, after they believe she embezzled over $3,500 from Kalamazoo Strong by creating a credit card connected to the organization’s PayPal account.
The US Attorney for the Western District of Michigan says that Tracy Bronson of Marshall was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury in Grand Rapids for five counts of theft concerning programs receiving federal funds; authorities say that between 2014 and 2017, Bronson stole over $500,000 from the Calhoun Conservation District. Prosecutors say that Bronson would write checks to herself, from the Calhoun Conservation District's credit union account.
Detectives began investigating earlier this month, after Conservation District’s board of directors got in contact with the MSP Marshall post about missing money. The chair of the board says that they know some money is missing, but exactly how much and where it exactly went remains a mystery.
