Those who attend Kellogg Community College and have late fees for overdue library items have a chance to reduce or erase that debt by donating food non perishable foods.

The Food Bank of South Central Michigan's new Executive Director remembers exactly when he started his new job.   Peter Vogel says it was just as the polar vortex sent arctic cold temps into Michigan.   Vogel stopped by the 95.3 WBCK Morning Show with Tim Collins.

The Fire Hub says that starting Wednesday, various baked goods will be sold at Battle Creek's Horrocks grocer, with Fire Hub branding; The items would be located near the sushi bar.

Back in January, Firekeeper’s Casino Hotel held a Poker Tournament Series to raise money for the local food bank. Now, they are announcing their results. Firekeeper’s says that the Restock the Shelves event gathered over 400 pounds of non-perishable food, and over $3,000 in cash donations.

Firekeeper’s Casino says that January 15 to the 17, participants in tournaments will be able to get additional chips for food and cash donations. However, they say if you don't play poker you can still make a donation during the event.

Battle Creek's Fire Hub and their adjacent food pantry are running a promotion this month in order to bring in more food for the holiday season. Michael McFarlen from the Fire Hub says that as we head through November and December, the need for food is rising.
