LARA says in a release Monday that they want to clarify the use of “dispensary” and other terms by medical marijuana provisioning centers, in regards to state law. They say that under state law, provisioning centers cannot call themselves a dispensary, pharmacy, or drug store, nor use those and other terms in their advertising.

This year, the City Commission approved allowing medical marijuana facilities to open up within city limits consistent with state law, and the City Clerk announced Thursday that they are awaiting those businesses. The application period runs from June 7 to June 28, and no applications will be accepted outside of that time.
