The Calhoun County Health Department conducted a study of opioid prescribing rates, overdoses resulting in emergency room visits, and opioid overdose deaths, and they say that a key takeaway is the impact of fentanyl.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs says on Wednesday that Frederick Grove prescribed controlled substances, particularly things like opioids and muscle relaxers, in dosages and combinations that can be dangerous.

The program, put on by the National Alliance on Mental Illness Calhoun County, will feature speakers from Summit Pointe about opiate dangers and addiction; speeches will also be held by two women who were a part of creating Michigan’s Good Samaritan law
