The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says Tuesday that they received a report from a citizen, who complained of a scammer impersonating a Sheriff’s Deputy. The scammer told the victim they had a ticket from a traffic camera.
Battle Creek Police officers responded to the C-Store at the corner of Columbia Ave. and 20th St, where the suspect vehicle was located; at the scene, police found a 31-year-old man and 34-year-old woman, along with stolen property.
A new scam is being reported by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, involving a wrongdoer impersonating a Sheriff’s Office employee.
The CCSO says that they have received complaints from residents of the City of Battle Creek and Emmett Township of the scam, which works like so; residents receive a call from someone claiming to be a supervisor of the CCSO’s Civil Division, who goes on to say that
Some Battle Creek residents have been recieving calls from individuals claiming to be police officers, seeking donations; the Battle Creek Police Department wants residents to know that these calls area scam!
The Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan is warning against a number of scams con artists are using to cheat citizens out of cash.
