Beginning the week of June 1st, all of Michigan's 131 offices will be open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, they will continue to operate under appointment only guidelines for in person services
The real staffing issue is that many election workers that have served local offices are seniors and many are not willing to work the May election due to their increased vulnerability to the COVID-19 virus.
At the moment, The Department of State only offers appointments in 43 of their 88 branches, but the option will be expanded to the remaining branches starting mid-June.
