The W.K. Kellogg Airport will be known under a new name in the near future.

Battle Creek City Commissioners will return to chambers after the Thanksgiving holiday with their first of two December meetings.

The City of Battle Creek is seeking the public’s help in a survey for the W.K. Kellogg Airport.

The Battle Creek City Commission’s agenda for their June 19 meeting includes a resolution which would authorize the City of Battle Creek to accept grants from the federal and state governments, and also allow for money from the local airport enterprise fund to go towards the project. All told almost $3.5 million would be spent, with $215,000 of that coming from the City.

Vice President Mike Pence landed in Battle Creek around 11 a.m. Saturday morning ahead of his planned commencement speech at Hillsdale College.

The City says that they have created a “story map”, which involves photos, maps, text, and other interactive multimedia formats.
