Now that the dust has settled a little from Terri Tchorzynski's White House visit to accept the national "Counselor of the Year" award in January, 2017, she is back at work at the Calhoun Area Career Center in Battle Creek.

Reflecting back on the experience of visiting the White House and being honored by the first lady, Tchorzynski tells 95.3 WBCK the experience was amazing - and, to some extent, unexpected.

Sure, she had already won Michigan counselor of the year, then had to submit to an interview with national finalists for the country's honor. Even still, the win might still have been surprising.

It turned out to be an occasion upon which former first lady Michelle Obama made her last public speech as first lady. She also reflected with WBCK about what the first lady said to her at the event.
