"Lets get a little crazy here” and run a virtual race and get more trees planted at Michigan State Parks. It's the first-ever Bob Ross themed Happy Little 5k.

If he weren't a painter, Bob Ross could have been a coach. Like the NBA"s Zen master Phil Jackson, Ross has a calming, yet inspirational demeanor.

All you need to paint is a few tools, a little instruction, and a vision in your mind.

Believe that you can do it cause you can do it.

There's nothing in the world that breeds success like success.

Believe that you can do it and lace up your running shoes for the Happy Little Trees 5k. This Spring, you can walk, run or hike – you pick the pace and the place, anywhere in Michigan's great outdoors. This is a virtual race, meaning you track and report your own progress. Just be sure to complete your 5K within the 10-day window that encompasses two full weekends, plus Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 24).

Registration opens Jan. 1 and will be capped at 1,000 participants. Every participant will get Bob Ross themed swag, including a Happy Little T-shirt, a commemorative bib number and a finisher's medal. The best part? Your virtual race will make a real difference – all race proceeds support tree-planting efforts at state parks throughout Michigan.

“There are no mistakes, just happy accidents.”
