No visit to San Francisco would be complete without a visit to Lombard Street, shown above, known as the crookedest street in the world. There's a street in the Upper Peninsula that comes about as close as you can get to the twistiness of Lombard in Michigan.

Lombard has 8 hairpin turns along its famous block between Hyde and Levenworth. The 100 block of Isle Royale Street in Houghton can boast 4 twists as it bends around a few downtown parking structures. And the street is steep. The block south of the twists is home of an annual street luge event when Isle Royale is closed to traffic and kids are allowed to sled down in homemade contraptions.

Here's a map of the curves on Isle Royale Street.

Isle Royale Street Scenes

Isle Royale Street ends at Portage Lake. There's another, short but straight block that's still very steep between South and Houghton Streets.
