The Detroit Tigers took on the Texas Rangers, Friday evening, in the first game of a three game series.

Daniel Norris took the mound for Detroit and Nick Martinez pitched for the Rangers. Both pitchers kept the game scoreless until the 3rd inning.

Texas scored two runs in the 3rd with Ryan Rua and Delino DeShields crossing the plate, making it a 2-0 game.

Mike Napoli homered in the 4th and Justin Upton scored on a single by Andrew Romine, pushing the score to 3-1 in the Ranger’s favor.

The 6th inning saw more action by the Rangers when Joey Gallo homered to right, bringing in Rougned Odor to score and making it a 5-1 game. The Rangers brought in Tony Barnette to pitch and the Tigers responded when McCann hit a sacrifice fly to center and Upton scoring easing the Ranger’s lead to 5-2.

The game grew tense for Texas when the Tigers loaded the bases and Iglesias scored on an error by the shortstop, Elvis Andrus. The game was now 5-3 with Victor Martinez and TylerCollins on base. Unfortunately Alex Avila struck out swinging, ending the game with the Texas Rangers winning 5-3.

The two teams will face each other again, for the second game of the series, Saturday evening at 6:45 on 95.3 WBCK.
