Tigers Hold On in the Mountains
The Detroit Tigers used six pitchers in Denver as they open their three-game Interleague series with the Colorado Rockies. With situational pitching being used by manager Brad Ausmus, the Tigers were able to get some solid bullpen help in a 4-3 victory on the road.
Offensively, Nicholas Castellanos went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs on the night, including two on a triple in the third inning to give Detroit the lead for good. James McCann was the only other Tiger with multiple hits with two.
The Tigers had one scare on the night, as Miguel Cabrera left early with muscle tightness in his back.
The second game of the three-game series is set for Tuesday night at Coors Field. Michael Fulmer (10-11, 3.69 ERA) looks to get back on track for the Tigers. The Rockies counter with German Marquez (10-5, 4.18 ERA). The action begins at 8:15pm on 95.3 WBCK!
