Tigers Rocked in Cleveland
As the All-Star Break approaches, the Detroit Tigers made a venture to Cleveland for a weekend series with the Indians. On Friday, the Tigers allowed 16 hits in a 11-2 loss to the Tribe in a game that was put out of reach early.
Miguel Cabrera and J.D. Martinez each drove in a run on the night in the Tigers loss. Alex Avila and Ian Kinsler each had two hits.
Jordan Zimmermann allowed five runs and was ousted after three innings work to take the loss for Detroit. He falls to 5-7 on the season.
The second game of the three-game series is Saturday night at Progressive Field. The Tigers hope that Justin Verlander (5-5, 4.96 ERA) escapes his recent demons against the Indians. He is 1-2 on the year against Cleveland and allowed seven runs in a 11-8 loss July 2nd. The Indians will send out Mike Clevinger (4-3, 3.33 ERA) in a rematch.
