If you didn't know, today is National Voter Registration Day. It was developed back in 2012 as a day to get as many voters as possible registered before the elections in the fall. The day was quite successful last year because according to the National Voter Registration Day website, over 800,000 voters used National Voter Registration Day to register to vote in 2018.

To register to vote in Michigan, you must be a resident of Michigan and the city or township where you are applying to register to vote for at least 30 days before election day. You also have to be at least 18 years of age by election day and you must be a citizen of the United States of America. You must also NOT be serving a sentence in jail or prison. You can click here to see the step-by-step guide from the Secretary of State's office on how to get registered to vote.
