Governor Rick Snyder has declared a state of disaster for Ionia County, following last month's tornado that caused extensive damage. The EF1 tornado hit on June 22. The state of disaster means all state resources in cooperation with local response and recovery efforts have been made available.

The governor has also opened up the Disaster and Emergency Contingency Fund to local governments within the county. They can apply for grants to cover costs of up to 100-thousand dollars.
