Two Michigan Off Duty Cops Start A Bar Brawl

Two officers found themselves in some hot water as a video camera catches their fight 

Early Wednesday, two police officers, who were off-duty, were drinking at a bar when things got out of hand and they started a fight.

The Bath Township officers are Bryan Miller, 34, and Payton Warner, 25, were in Grand Rapids for (believe it or not)  a training exercise. Both officers are on administrative leave as an investigation is conducted.

Owner of the 'Web Bar', Deb Owen told wilx.com how the fight occurred and what took place...

The officers punched a bartender and kicked a customer before the fight got broken up. Officer Miller threw the first punch. They came in and were drinking and were fine and they left. They went to another bar and came back with a couple of girls. The bartender refused to serve him and he got a little belligerent...he asked him to leave and he didn't..he got more belligerent and he started swinging.

The Bath Township Police Department (BTPD)posted on their Facebook Page this comment about the incident...

"As many of you know, last night in Grand Rapids, two of our Officers were involved in an altercation which ultimately led to their arrest. We know the level of professionalism our community expects of us and we hold our officers to that same standard. This entire incident shines a negative light on not only our department but our community."

The post went on to explain how the department plans to handle the situation...

"Both officers have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. We have policies and procedures in place for internal investigations and will make everyone aware when the investigation is complete and the legal process is carried out. Thank you."

The state that the BTPD posted was meet with support from the community...

Kristi S. posted her thoughts on Facebook: "Still support my local Bath police."

Albert G replied on the post with this statement: "Good job!!!! Yes it looks bad but you guys are taking care of it and making public. I applaud all of you!!!!"

Becky S posted her thoughts: "Praying for the department. Officers need to live a higher standard professionally as well as privately . No one knows what actually happened...we need to keep our own lives clean before judging."

The Lansing Journal reported that the Officers spent some time at the Kent County Jail and were later released.
