You May Have Unclaimed Money – Michigan Has Paid Over $400 Million In The Last Five Years
If there was ever a time to at least 'take a look', this is it. You may have money just sitting in the Michigan Department of Treasury's database waiting for you to claim it. Many Michigan residents have and the state has paid over $400 million dollars over the past five years in lost or forgotten assets.
The State of Michigan has a webpage that allows residents to easily check to see if they have any forgotten money. It could come from dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, valuables left in safe deposit boxes or stock certificates. After a certain amount of time, those properties are considered abandoned and are required to be turned over to the state by law. The Michigan Department of Treasury holds the assets until they are rightfully claimed and verified.
