Authorities now believe that a man found dead in Battle Creek this week died from an overdose, and his alleged dealer is facing charges.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that 35-year-old Jerell Finch is to be charged Monday with delivery of heroin causing death, lying to police and being a habitual offender. If he’s convicted of these charges, Finch faces life in prison. He was arrested Thursday, after the victim’s dead body was found on 5th St. in Springfield Wednesday night.

The victim, identified as 43-year-old Michael Newman, is believed to have overdosed at a home in the 200 block of Eldred St, although autopsy results are still being sought.
