An old car that has been submerged at the Morrow Pond impoundment of
the Kalamazoo River is drawing the attention of the Kalamazoo County
Sheriff’s Department. The car is now visible about 100 feet from the
riverbank after the water level of the impoundment was dropped to allow
work crews access to the Morrow Pond Dam. The water level has been
drawn down about 13 feet from normal.

We posted a couple photos yesterday  about the lower water level and what little is visible of the car. They were taken by a Comstock resident and originally posted to Facebook.

The car is a late 60’s Chevrolet Impala. So far the Sheriff’s Department has no other information about the car. The license plate has been recovered but Secretary of State records are not maintained that far back. The department is working to have the car pulled out of the muddy impoundment bottom. No easy task. In the meantime, the Department would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about the car, and how
it ended up there. Undersheriff James VanDyken is asking anyone with information to contact the Department's Operations Division, or call Kalamazoo Silent Observer. We have several new photos of the car supplied by the Sheriff’s Department including the license plate, and the steering wheel and horn assembly. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department's Operations Division at (269) 383-8821, or Kalamazoo Silent Observer at ( 269) 343-2100.
