We Did It! Roofsit Reaches $60,000 Goal

We did it!   We made our Roofsit goal!  The 12th Annual Roof Sit for Inasmuch House, Calhoun County’s Shelter for Homeless Families, was a great success, and we have so many people to thank!

Our 2018 goal was $60,000.  At the end of day two, Saturday, we’d raised $56,148.  As of Monday afternoon, after counting coins, adding in the internet donations, and a couple of checks, that total was $61,410.

First, we want to thank Dan and Kelly Frever, owners of Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders at 2171 West Columbia.  Dan and Kelly Frever graciously allowed us to hold the event on their roof again, and their staff was just great!

Gary Minneman Jr. of Sunshine Toyota pledged to match $5000 if we could get that much in a two hour window on Friday, with a promise from Toyota of America to do the same.   By 10am Friday, we had raised the total by $15,000!  Thanks so much to Gary and Toyota.

Lakeview Ford Lincoln sponsored Drive One for Your Community and raffled off four mountain bikes.  Every test drive on Saturday added $20 to the total.

Fort Factories I.I. Stanley and Denso contributed, along with so many small businesses in the area, and many anonymous donors called in pledges.

Haven of Rest Executive Director Daniel Jones did a phenomenal job of organizing and running things.   Thank you to our phone volunteers: Stan and the crew from Elwell Salon, and Kari and the girls from Red Line Volleyball.

CTS Telecom generously provided the phone lines, and Patrick O’Donnell went above and beyond put wiring it up...as always.  Phil at Battle Creek Rental Equipment worked with us on the lift and tent.

Volunteers young and old were fearless in manning our “Bucket Brigades” at a dozen sites on Friday and Saturday, even in the rain.   The bright green shirts they wore were made possible by the sponsors: Victory Life Church, Meijer, Sam’s Club, St. Mark Lutheran, Chemical Bank, Battle Creek Community Church, Dexter Lake Church, First Presbyterian Church, T.J. Maxx, Advia Credit Union, CTI Mechanical Contractors, Vascular Health Center and Mancino’s Pizza and Grinders.

The guys in the Men’s Life Recovery program ran a car wash, and were there for the setup and tear down.

Thanks to all of you who called to donate, or did so on line or on Facebook or by giving to our bucket brigades.

Our emergency studio and rest area was made possible by Haylett RV.

Food was provided by Bob Evans Restaurant, Big Boy Restaurant, Barista Blues Cafe, and Mancinos Pizza and Grinders.  Besco Water made sure we were properly hydrated and Biggby Coffee took care of us both days.

Thanks to Mitch who ran the lift for us….LaDonna Vary from the Haven of Rest and Kristina Herman of Plante-Moran for keeping track of the donation totals on site.

Kelley Parish started the Roofsit 12 years ago when she worked for the radio station and helped out with the broadcast.  Our radio staff was phenomenal, especially Nico, Brandon and Renk, along with Heather McGregor, Bob Coward, Dr. Ron, as well as Nate, Alex and Brad.    Our Edge crew, Dana, Fly and Mark and Karen in our sales dept.

Several community leaders came up to encourage us and remind the community about the importance of the Homeless Shelter to our city and county.

So many helped and donated.  We couldn’t possibly name everyone, and I know I probably missed a few people.  Thanks to all who made our Roofsit a success!
