Why not defund Planned Parenthood
Senate Democrats blocked an attempt yesterday by Republicans in the Senate to cut off taxpayer dollars funding Planned Parenthood.
The Senate voted 53-46 for a bill put forth by Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, that would stop the non-profit group from receiving any taxpayer dollars from Congress.
Although it passed, they needed 60 votes to advance the legislation.
In an article published in the USA Today Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, was quoted as saying "This is the beginning of the fight to restore America's conscience.”
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said democrats "will fight vigorously ... any attempt to deprive American women of health care."
How is cutting off taxpayer funding of a group that harvest aborted babies organs they abort and directing those taxpayer dollars to community healthcare centers depriving American woman of heath care?
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky, was quoted in the article saying "the revelations we've seen from Planned Parenthood are deeply disturbing, they raise real fundamental questions about what kind of society we want to be."
That is exactly right, what kind of society do you wish to live in?
One that supports the harvesting of aborted baby organs for profit?
You can still be pro-abortion but against the harvesting of these aborted babies’ organs. This is not a political issue, this is about humanity.
Planned Parenthood tells us they use the taxpayer dollars to provide women with birth control, cancer screenings, annual checkups, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, and other services. These procedures can all be performed by our community health centers thus there would be no depriving of health care to women.
Supporters of Planned Parenthood are also calling this an attack against women. If this can be said by supporters can people who oppose the harvesting of aborted babies organs call their support an attack against babies?
We need to get past the political game of name calling and see this for what it is, barbarism.
This is not a left or right issue, this is an issue concerning the soul and moral compass of our society.
