A Coldwater man led multiple police agencies on a car chase that spanned two counties, Friday evening.

The chase began at 6 PM in Pennfield, when a Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for improper plates. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and began to attempt to elude deputies along with Battle Creek City Police. The pursuit continued on county roads, as more police added to the chase, and eventually onto westbound I-94.

During the chase, the driver was throwing unknown items from the vehicle.

The chase finally ended when the vehicle drove off from the highway, at mile marker 72, and the man took off on foot. He was quickly apprehended and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on multiple charges.

The driver was identified as a 46 year old male out of Coldwater, Michigan who was out on parole.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Battle Creek Police, Portage Police, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office and the DNR.
