80-Year-Old Woman Killed After Crash In Comstock

A fatal crash in Comstock earlier this week remains under investigation, but authorities have ruled out a few possibilities.

MLive reports that the crash occurred around 3pm Tuesday, at the intersection of Gull Road and Gull Run Dr. Authorities say that a car driven by 80-year-old Bonnie Mellema was turning left onto Gull Run, and failed to yield to a westbound pickup truck, driven by 61-year-old Dennis Crookston.

The truck then slammed into the car; Mellema was taken to the hospital and later died from her injuries, while Crookston suffered minor injuries.

Authorities say that they cannot find evidence that either speed or alcohol were factors in this crash.
