A new phone scam is being reported out of the City of Albion, and authorities want you to take notice.

The Albion Department of Public Safety says on Monday that they have been receiving reports of a new scam, specifically targeting city residents. The individual calls the victim, and claims to be from Albion City Hall, saying there is a problem with your credit card information.

The Caller ID shows a City Hall number, and when you call the number back a City Hall voicemail is heard. However, the ADPS says that the City NEVER calls and asks for credit card information over the phone.

Authorities also say that it's easy to "spoof" a Caller ID, so a victim may think the person calling them is legitimate. However, the ADPS advises against ever giving out credit card information over the phone.

If you receive a call like this, please let authorities know.
